Helens Stephens, a.k.a. "The Fulton Flash" competed in the 1936 Summer Olympics in Germany, where she won gold in the 100m dash, and anchored the 4x100m relay team, which also won gold. Groups in Fulton petitioned the United States Postal Service to issue a stamp honoring Helen Stephens, but the petition was turned down
