LISTING OF FACTORY MULTIPLE CARBURETOR MANIFOLDS

We have the following multiple carburetor set-ups in stock. We are listing these as manifold and carburetor combinations; with the air cleaners (when we have them listed separately). Some of the manifold/carburetor combinations are used, some are rebuilt. Some contain linkage and fuel lines as well as the manifold and carbs. Please look at the pictures provided. IF YOU HAVE QUESTIONS, PLEASE CALL! DO NOT EMAIL QUESTIONS. TO PROTECT THE SECURITY OF OUR DATABASES, EMAILS GO TO MY HOME COMPUTER. I DO NOT HAVE ANSWERS TO QUESTIONS ON THESE UNITS AT MY HOME.

None of these units will be shipped; local pick-up in Eldon, Missouri ONLY.

Factory units:

Buick

1941 compound carburetion (series 40 and 50) (2 x 2).

Rough, but appears to be complete, even with factory air cleaner, and exhaust manifolds. $500.

NO PICTURE - SOLD

1964 Factory original Buick dual quad ( 2 x 4 ) setup. Carter AFB 3645s front, Carter AFB 3646s rear. Carburetor numbers suggest 1964, but would probably fit other years. Original Buick intake manifold. Carbs appear to be complete. Linkage, fuel fittings, and dashpot present. I have no other special parts (fuel lines, air cleaner, etc.) for this unit. However, we can provide a really good rebuilding kit at additional cost, should the buyer request one. Everything that is supposed to move, does move. Throttle shafts seem to be snug.

Cadillac

1955 Cadillac factory dual quad (2x4) used set-up

SET 1 - Original Rochester 4-GC carburetors. Note that the original choke covers are still present. $900.

SET 1

SET 2 - Original Rochester 4-GC carburetors. Note that the original choke covers are still present. $900.

SET 2

1955 Cadillac factory dual quad ( 2x4 ) set-up. Intake manifold was glass-beaded, and painted with high temperature Cadillac engine paint. Carburetors ( Rochester 7007942, 7007241 ) were restored as follows: totally disassembled, parts with finish were refinished (zinc chromate on zinc castings, white zinc electroplate on steel items, parkerizing on cast iron), calibration parts were replaced, floats were cleaned, inspected, AND tested; and everything reassembled, and adjusted to factory specifications.

Note that the choke covers ARE CORRECT. Cadillac used a Rube Goldberg arrangement where the choke covers had an adjustment that was attached to the primary throttle shaft. The theory was that this arrangement would give better drivability when cold. In practice, just the opposite was true, and many of these "pointer" chokes were removed by the service manager the very first time the car came into the dealership for service. The modification IMPROVED the drivability of the cars. Very rare to find these units with the original Rube Goldberg chokes.

Linkage is original. Fuel lines, and factory Carter glass bowl fuel filter.

$3000.

1956 Cadillac factory dual quad ( 2x4 ) set-up. Intake manifold was glass-beaded, and painted with high temperature Cadillac engine paint. Carburetors ( Carter 2372s and 2373s ) were restored as follows: totally disassembled, parts with finish were refinished (zinc chromate on zinc castings, white zinc electroplate on steel items, parkerizing on cast iron), calibration parts were replaced, float were cleaned, inspected, AND tested; and everything reassembled, and adjusted to factory specifications WITH THE FOLLOWING EXCEPTIONS: The choke covers are incorrect. These covers are from the 1955~1956 era. The modification IMPROVED the drivability of the cars. Very rare to find these units with the original Rube Goldberg chokes. Linkage is original.

$3000.

Ford

1956 Ford, Mercury experimental dual quad ( 2x4) setup for 292, 312 CID engines. Documenting these is quite difficult, but what I have been able to piece together over the last 20 or so years is this. In 1956, Ford ordered 50 aluminum dual quad intake manifolds, casting number ECZ-9424-C from Edelbrock; planning to use the Carter 2361s WCFB carbs used on the 1955 Mercury. Since the Carter has a longer "footprint" than the "haystack Holley", the manifold is cast with the carb mounting flanges further apart than later intakes. After the first 50 were delivered, Holley came in with a less expensive quote for the haystacks, a.k.a. model 4000, and Ford had different intakes cast for the Holleys, with the mounting flanges closer together. Supposely, Edelbrock was less than happy about doing all the patterns for a 50 unit order, so removed the Ford casting number, put the Edelbrock name on the casting, and continued to sell the intakes as aftermarket. Call for price. SOLD

Aftermarket

Chevrolet

Creitz SBC aluminum 2 x 4 (Carter AFBs) (RACE ONLY – very rare item). Aftermarket dual quad ( 2x4 ) setup for small block Chevy ( Chevrolet ). Manifold is by Creitz. Mr. Creitz was a racer, and produced high performance intakes. Fairly low production item. Carburetors are modified Carter 3721s, original used on the Chevrolet 327 engines. Carburetors have been modified for street performance (larger idle jets, more aggressive metering, etc.) but auxiliary air valves are still present, so the set-up can be used on performance street engines. Carburetor steel pieces have been electro-plated, and the set-up will show well, as well as perform well. $1800.

Pontiac

The shop owner is a Pontiac nut! For this reason, we have an extensive inventory of aftermarket setups for Pontiac. Inventory includes three deuces for the old 195 cid four-banger, dual dueces for the 215 aluminum V-8, many tripower and dual quads for 389/421 including Offenhauser, Weiand, Edelbrock, Offy 2 x 4 straight and cross-ram for 1965 and up 400/455; 4 and 6 deuce set-ups for the 1964 and earlier V-8’s including Offenhauser, Weiand, and Edelbrock; even a race only 2 x 4 set-up for the Fiero!

Call to discuss your Pontiac multi-carburetion needs.

Sample:

Edelbrock model X-2 with six Holley 2-barrel carbs.  This is Edelbrock catalogue number 2160 for 1955-1964 Pontiac 8 cylinder engines. Six matched Holley model 8BA carburetors were selected for use. The carburetors were totally disassembled, and the idle and choke circuits completely removed and plugged from the carburetors to be used as ends. The castings were then sent to a metal laundry company where the cast iron throttle bodies were parkerized, and the zinc alloy airhorn, bowl, and venturi boosters were chromated (see the greenish finish on the tops in the side picture, this is the original finish). Next the castings were carefully masked and painted with gloss black epoxy paint. After painting, the castings were allowed to partially airdry, and the masking removed. The castings were then baked at 125 degrees F. to force the epoxy to “set”. All steel pieces were sent to another metal laundry company where the internal pieces were electroplated with white zinc (oriiginal finish), and the external steel pieces were chrome-plated. The carburetors were reassembled using all new gaskets, fuel valves, accelerator pumps, power valves, jets, screws (chromed), etc. As most like to choose their own linkage and fuel lines, we did not include these. A water neck is included although not pictured. Price $3250.00 plus shipping via UPS (or come visit The Carburetor Shop to pick up, and eliminate the shipping charge). Top view  |   Side view
